From the servant of Allāh, ‘Alī, the Commander of the faithful, to the people of Kūfah who are foremost among the supporters and chiefs of the Arabs.
IsnādDe la part d'Abdullah Ali, l'émir des croyants, aux habitants de Koufa, la tête des partisans et le bouclier des Arabes.

Now, I am apprising you of what befell ‘Uthmān so (correctly) that its hearing may be like its seeing. People criticised him, and I was the only man from among the muhājirūn (immigrants) who asked him to seek to satisfy (the Muslims) most and to offend them the least. As for Ṭalḥah and az-Zubayr, their lightest step about him was hard and their softest voice was strong. ‘Ā’ishah too was in a rage with him. Consequently, a group overpowered him and killed him. Then, people swore allegiance to me, not by force or compulsion, but obediently and out of free will.

Quant au contenu du hadith, il dit : "Après cela, je vous informe au sujet d'Uthman jusqu'à ce que son ouïe soit comme sa vue. Les gens l'ont critiqué, et j'étais parmi les émigrants celui qui lui faisait le plus de reproches tout en étant celui qui lui pardonnait le plus. Talha et Zubayr étaient plus doux dans leur approche envers lui que le vent d'est, et plus tendres dans leur protection que le violent. Aisha avait envers lui des moments de colère. Un groupe de personnes lui fut donné et le tuèrent. Les gens me prêtèrent allégeance de leur plein gré, sans contrainte ni contrainte, mais obéissants et ayant le choix."
You should know that Medina has been vacated by its residents and they have abandoned it. It is boiling like a huge cooking pot and rebellion is fixed on its axis moving with full force. So, hasten towards your amīr (commander) and proceed forward to fight your enemy, if so wills Allāh to Whom belongs Might and Majesty.
Sachez que la terre de l'émigration a été abandonnée par ses habitants et qu'ils l'ont quittée, que l'armée de la rébellion s'est soulevée, et que la discorde s'est installée parmi les pôles. Alors hâtez-vous vers votre commandant et précipitez-vous dans le jihad contre votre ennemi, si Allah le veut.
