Regarding the incitement of Satan: alluding to a particular group of people (about Ṭalḥah and az-Zubayr)
Et dans l'une de ses prédications, il (que la paix soit sur lui) a dit : "Le diable cherche à m'éloigner de mon peuple."
Beware! Satan [1] has collected his group and assembled his horse-men and foot-soldiers. Surely, with me is my sagacity. I have neither deceived myself nor ever been deceived. By Allāh I shall fill to the brim for them a cistern from which I alone would draw water. They can neither turn away from it nor return to it.
IsnādCe hadith ne contient pas de chaîne de transmission clairement identifiable.
Certes, le diable a rassemblé ses partisans, a mobilisé ses chevaux et ses hommes. Pourtant, j'ai une vision perçante. Rien ne m'a été caché, ni dissimulé. Par Allah, je lui préparerai un bassin auquel je verserai de l'eau ! Ils n'en seront pas éloignés, et ils n'y reviendront jamais.

By Allāh, they did not find any disagreeable thing in me, nor did they do justice between me and themselves. Surely, they are now demanding a right which they have abandoned and blood which they have themselves shed. If I pertook in it with them then they too have a share in it, but if they committed it without me the demand should be against them. The first step of their justice should be that they pass verdict against themselves. I have my intelligence with me. I have never mixed matters nor have they appeared mixed to me.
Isnād[طلحة و الزبير :]
Par Allah, ils ne me reprochent aucun blâme, et ils ne font pas de compromis entre moi et eux à moitié. Ils recherchent la vérité qu'ils ont abandonnée, et le sang qu'ils ont versé. S'ils ont partagé avec moi, alors ils ont leur part. S'ils sont inférieurs à moi, alors les demandeurs ne sont que leurs alliés. Leur première justice est de juger contre eux-mêmes. Certes, j'ai une clairvoyance avec moi, je n'ai jamais été trompé ni trompé.
Certainly, this is the rebellious group in which there is the near one (az-Zubayr), the scorpion’s venom (‘Ā’ishah) and doubts which cast a veil (on facts). But the matter is clear, and the wrong has been shaken from its foundation. Its tongue has stopped uttering mischief. By Allāh, I will prepare for them a cistern from which I alone will draw water. They will not be able to drink from it nor would they be able to drink from any other place.
C'est un groupe de transgresseurs, en eux se trouvent l'arrogance, la vanité et les doutes trompeurs. La vérité est claire, l'erreur a été écartée de son essence, et sa langue s'est tue sur ses mensonges. Par Allah, je leur préparerai un bassin que je remplirai, ils n'en sortiront pas assoiffés ni ne seront égarés après lui dans la confusion.
[A part of the same sermon :] You advanced towards me shouting “allegiance, allegiance” like she-camels having delivered newly born young ones leaping towards their young. I held back my hand but you pulled it towards you I drew back my hand but you dragged it. O my Allāh! these two have ignored my rights and did injustice to me. They both have broken allegiance to me, and roused people against me. Unfasten Thou what they have fastened, and do not make strong what they have woven. Show them the evil in what they aimed at and acted upon. Before fighting I asked them to be steadfast in allegiance and behaved with them with consideration but they belittled the blessing and refused (to adopt the course of) safety.
Isnād[منه في أمر البيعة :]
Vous vous êtes approchés de moi comme les brebis s'approchent de leur berger, en disant : "Le serment d'allégeance, le serment d'allégeance !" J'ai tendu ma main que vous avez saisie, puis ma main s'est dégagée et vous l'avez retenue. Ô Allah, ils m'ont trahi, m'ont opprimé, ont violé leur serment d'allégeance et ont détourné les gens contre moi. Annulez ce qu'ils ont conclu, ne confirmez pas ce qu'ils ont décidé, et montrez-leur la conséquence de leurs actions et intentions. Je les avais déjà soutenus avant la bataille, et je les avais pris comme aides face à l'adversité, mais ils ont rejeté la grâce et repoussé la sécurité.
