Il dit : « Ce qui m’est rendu aimable de votre bas monde sont les femmes et le parfum ; et c’est dans la prière que j’ai placé la fraîcheur de mon œil. »
L’auteur de ce livre — que Dieu l’agrée — dit : Les hérétiques s’accrochent à ce récit et disent : « Le Prophète (que la prière et la paix soient sur lui et sa Famille) dit : “Ce qui m’est rendu aimable de votre bas monde sont les femmes et le parfum”, puis il voulut mentionner une troisième chose, mais il se ravisa et dit : “Et c’est dans la prière que j’ai placé la fraîcheur de mon œil.” » Ils ont menti, car le Prophète (que la prière et la paix soient sur lui et sa Famille) n’avait en vue dans ce récit que la prière seule. En effet, il (que la prière et la paix soient sur lui et sa Famille) a dit : « Deux rakʿa (cycles de prière) accomplies par un homme marié sont meilleures auprès de Dieu que soixante-dix rakʿa accomplies par un homme non marié. » Dieu ne lui a rendu aimables les femmes qu’à cause de la prière. De même, il a dit : « Deux rakʿa accomplies par un homme parfumé sont meilleures que soixante-dix rakʿa accomplies par un homme non parfumé. » Dieu ne lui a rendu aimable le parfum, lui aussi, qu’à cause de la prière. Puis il (que la prière et la paix soient sur lui et sa Famille) dit : « Et c’est dans la prière que j’ai placé la fraîcheur de mon œil » ; car si un homme se parfume et se marie, mais ne prie pas, il n’y a pour lui, dans le mariage et le parfum, ni mérite ni récompense.
