2. It is narrated from him (narrator of the above Hadith) from Yunus from al-Haytham ibn Waqid from a man who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said that the Messenger of Allah once visited a man of his companions in dying condition. He then said, ‘O angel of death, make it easy for my companion; he is a believing person.’ He then said, ‘O Muhammad, I am a friend of every believing person. O Muhammad, please note that when I take away the soul of the sons of Adam, his family then cries and mourns. I stand on the side of their room and say, “What is this crying and mourning! By Allah, we have not done it before the due time and we have not done anything wrong. If you consider and bear patience, you will be rewarded but if you cry and howl, you sin and transgress. You should know that we come to you repeatedly; you should be on your guard and beware! There is no household in the East, West, urban, or countryside whose faces I do not study five times every day. I know their grownups and the young ones better than they themselves do. Even if I decide to take away the soul of a bug, I cannot do so without permission from its Lord.’” The Messenger of Allah has said, ‘He studies their faces at the times of Salah (prayer). If they observe proper times of performing their prayers, he dictates them the testimony of belief: “No one deserves to be worshipped except Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah” and the angel of death drives Satan away from him.’”

Le Messager d'Allah (que la paix soit sur lui) entra chez l'un de ses compagnons alors qu'il se plaignait de lui-même. Le Prophète dit : "Ô Ange de la Mort, sois doux avec mon compagnon car il est croyant". L'Ange de la Mort répondit : "Réjouis-toi, ô Muhammad, car je suis pour tout croyant un compagnon. Sache, ô Muhammad, que j'arrache l'âme du fils d'Adam et que sa famille s'afflige. Je me tiens dans un coin de leur maison et je demande : pourquoi cette affliction ? Par Allah, nous ne l'avons pas précipité avant son terme, et nous n'avons aucun péché à son égard. Si vous êtes patients et endurants, vous serez récompensés, mais si vous vous lamentez, vous pécherez et serez blâmés. Sachez que nous reviendrons vers vous, encore et encore, donc prenez garde, prenez garde. Il n'y a ni à l'est ni à l'ouest de cette maison des habitants de Médine qui ne soient sous ma surveillance cinq fois par jour. Je connais les petits et les grands parmi eux mieux qu'eux-mêmes. Même si je voulais prendre l'âme d'un moustique, je ne pourrais le faire sans l'ordre de mon Seigneur". Le Messager d'Allah (que la paix soit sur lui) dit : "Il les surveille aux moments des prières. Si quelqu'un est assidu à ses prières à leur heure, il lui fera réciter le témoignage qu'il n'est de dieu que Allah et que Muhammad est le Messager de Allah, et l'Ange de la Mort éloignera d'eux Iblis".

Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from ibn Mahbub from al-Mufaddal ibn Salih from Jabir who has said the following: “Abu Ja’far, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said, ‘The Messenger of Allah once visited a man from Ansar (people of Madinah) and he was of a good status before the Messenger of Allah. He visited him in his dying condition and looked at the angel of death near his head. The Messenger of Allah said, ‘Be kind to my companion; he is a believing person.’ The angel of death then said, ‘O Muhammad, be pleased and delighted; I am a very kind friend of every believer. O Muhammad, please consider that I visit the sons of Adam in their dying conditions and when I take their souls away, their families cry at that time. I then move away to the side of the room, with his spirit with me, and say to them, “By Allah, we have not done any injustice to him or come before the due time or rushed his measures. It is not our fault. If you agree with what Allah has done to him and bear patience, you will be rewarded and admired. If you howl and become angry, you sin and transgress; and you will not have any credit with us. Our work about you is not yet finished. So be on your guard, and beware! There is no household in urban or countryside, on land or water whose faces I do not study five times every day at the time of Salah (prayer), so much so that I know them better than they themselves do. If I, O Muhammad, decide to take away the soul of a bug, I cannot do so without the command of Allah, the Majestic, the Glorious, to do so. I dictate to a believer the testimony of belief at the time of his death: “No one deserves to be worshipped except Allah and Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.’””

Le Messager d'Allah (que la prière d'Allah et Son salut soient sur lui) a dit : "Un homme parmi les Ansar est venu en présence du Prophète et avait une bonne réputation auprès de lui. Le Prophète l'a accompagné à sa mort et a vu l'Ange de la Mort près de sa tête. Le Prophète lui a dit : 'Sois doux avec mon compagnon, car il est croyant.' L'Ange de la Mort lui a répondu : 'Ô Muhammad, apaise son âme et réconforte-le, car je suis un compagnon compatissant pour chaque croyant. Sache, ô Muhammad, que je suis présent à chaque être humain au moment de la prise de son âme. Quand je la prends, un cri perçant retentit parmi ses proches. Je me retire alors sur le côté de la maison, et son âme est avec moi. Je leur dis : Par Allah, nous ne lui avons pas fait de tort, ni devancé son terme, ni précipité son destin. Nous n'avons aucun péché dans la prise de son âme. Si vous acceptez ce qu'Allah lui a réservé et fait preuve de patience, vous serez récompensés et loués. Mais si vous vous lamentez et vous mettez en colère, vous pécherez et vous serez blâmés. Nous n'avons pas de reproches envers vous, mais vous aurez une demeure et un retour chez nous. Méfiez-vous, méfiez-vous. Il n'y a pas une famille, une ville, un désert, ou une mer sans que je ne les visite cinq fois par jour, à l'heure des prières, jusqu'à ce que je les connaisse mieux qu'eux-mêmes. Ô Muhammad, si je voulais prendre l'âme d'un moustique, je n'en serais pas capable tant qu'Allah, Puissant et Majestueux, n'aura pas ordonné sa prise. Je fais réciter la profession de foi à chaque croyant au moment de sa mort : 'Il n'y a de divinité digne d'adoration qu'Allah et Muhammad est le Messager d'Allah'."
